This year’s conference, themed “Creating a New Tomorrow” represented the largest IPA conference to date with over 69 broker dealers, 196 Sponsors, 63 associates and others in attendance.    This year’s record attendance represented a 25 percent increase in participation over last year’s attendance.  The IPA membership is also growing at a healthy 20% annually.

The conference highlighted the distinctive benefits of direct investments and how now is the ideal time for advisors and investors to diversify their portfolios with direct investment products.  Speakers included Governor Edward Rendell of Pennsylvania, James Glassman, senior regulators from FINRA, NASAA and other industry leaders.  Presentations included very candid discussions on key regulatory issues, establishing industry standards, the state of the Direct Investment Industry and alternative distribution strategies to name a few.

Highlights from the conference:

• IPA Educational Initiatives – A client approved Investor Guide titled “Guide to Understanding Direct Investments” launched in August.  The IPA collaborated with The American College to create the first of several CE approved educational courses for financial advisors.
• The IPA announced the partnership with Gibbs and Soell as their Public Relations Firm to make the public more aware of the benefits of direct investments.
• Best Practice Guidelines & Lobbying Initiatives
• Partnerships with NAREIT, US Chamber of Commerce, Gibbs & Soell, American College
