Classifications & Requirements

Affiliate Member: A Person who is in business to provide goods or services to other members of the IPA who is not a Sponsor, a Retail Broker Dealer, a Wholesale Broker Dealer or a Mixed Broker Dealer and who is Approved as and who remains in Good Standing as a member of the IPA. Each Affiliate member of the IPA must pay annual fees as established by the Board.

Retail Broker Dealer Member: A Person who is a Retail Broker Dealer who is Approved as and who remains in Good Standing as a member of the IPA as a Retail Broker Dealer member. Neither a Wholesale Broker Dealer nor a Mixed Broker Dealer may be a Retail Broker Dealer member of the IPA. A Wholesale Broker Dealer may not participate in IPA activities designated for Retail Broker Dealers only. At the discretion of the Board a Mixed Broker Dealer may participate in activities designated for Retail Broker Dealers only with representatives whose responsibilities are mainly not for Wholesaling activities. Each Retail Broker Dealer must pay annual fees as established by the Board.

Wholesale Broker Dealer Member: A Person who is a Wholesale Broker Dealer or a Mixed Broker Dealer who is Approved as and who remains in Good Standing as a member of the IPA as a Wholesale Broker Dealer member. Each Wholesale Broker Dealer must pay annual fees as established by the Board.

Sponsor Member: A Person who is a Sponsor who is Approved as and who remains in Good Standing as a member of the IPA as a Sponsor member. Each Sponsor must pay annual fees as established by the Board. A Sponsor who offers Program Securities through a Wholesale Broker Dealer member of the IPA or a Mixed Broker Dealer member of the IPA who wholesales such Securities must become a Sponsor member of the IPA. If such a Sponsor fails to become a member of the IPA then the Wholesale Broker Dealer or a Mixed Broker Dealer who Wholesales the Program Securities of such Sponsor must pay the dues that such Sponsor would be obligated to pay as a Sponsor it is were to become an IPA Sponsor member.

Board Representations: Persons who are chosen from representatives of all classes of IPA members may attend meetings of the Board, but only representatives of Sponsor members may vote on matters to be acted on by the Board.
