Opening Keynote — Resilience Amid Risk: The Global Outlook and the Next Map of Capital
The tariff shock has moved from headline to hard data, inflation is proving sticky, and the great rate question has flipped: after last year's cuts, central banks are on hold — and the debate is whether the next move is down at all, even as long-term borrowing costs stay stubbornly high. Cailin Birch, Global Economist at The Economist Intelligence Unit, returns to open the conference with the EIU's read on the year ahead: whether the dollar's turbulent run marks genuine diversification away from US assets or a cyclical swing, where growth is actually holding up — across the US, Europe, Asia, and the Gulf — and how the AI investment supercycle and a volatile geopolitical map are repricing energy, infrastructure, and capital itself. The session closes on the question underneath the whole agenda: what this environment means for how, and where, capital flows into private markets.
New to Alts?  A big-picture look at how world events — interest rates, elections, trade — change where investors put their money, and why that matters for private markets.

The Liquidity Question: Redemptions and What Actually Protects Investors
Every market answers the liquidity question differently: the US interval fund treats constraints as investor protection, Europe's semi-liquid wave builds liquidity into the product itself, and Australia's superannuation system has thrived while barely offering daily liquidity at all. Each answer reflects a real judgment about what serves investors, and this panel puts those judgments side by side. It also takes on the past year's stress test directly: pressure in private credit met evergreen structures for the first time in this boom, US products reported rising redemptions in their public filings while most international products publish no comparable figures, and the same strain read as turmoil in one market and near-silence in the other. What is the honest liquidity promise for genuinely illiquid assets — and which designs actually protect investors when it matters?
New to Alts?  "Liquidity" means how quickly you can get your money back. Private market funds limit withdrawals in different ways — this panel explains those designs and which ones genuinely protect investors.

A View from Washington: Politics and the New American Retirement Plan
A full Washington hour in two parts.

Chris Brown and Kendra Isaacson of Mindset, a premier Washington, DC lobbying firm, read the American political landscape — what the aftermath of the 2026 US midterm elections, congressional dynamics, and shifting regulatory posture mean for private markets, in plain terms.

Then Kevin Walsh, Partner at Groom Law Group, a prominent D.C. law firm specializing in employee benefits and retirement plans, sits down with a senior policymaker on the most consequential retirement-policy shift in the industry: the opening of the American retirement system to private markets. What the executive order actually changes, what plan fiduciaries are being asked to weigh, and how policymakers think about the guardrails—direct from someone helping shape the policy.
New to Alts?   A tour of the U.S. political landscape, followed by a senior U.S. government official explaining, in plain terms, the policy change that may let everyday American retirement accounts include private market investments — and what protections come with it.

The Briefing Room — Alternatives Inside the Insurance Wrapper
How private placement life insurance and insurance-dedicated funds (IDFs) have quietly become a distribution chassis for alternatives: how an IDF actually works, why managers are building insurance-dedicated versions of their strategies, and how the Luxembourg life-wrapper market moves cross-border wealth into private markets.
New to Alts? Some investors hold their investments inside a life insurance policy for tax and estate-planning reasons. This briefing explains the special funds — insurance-dedicated funds, or IDFs — built to sit inside those policies, and why managers create them.

The Drawdown Comeback in an Evergreen World
Evergreen has opened private markets to investors who could never access them before — and the classic drawdown fund still does things evergreen can't. Rather than crowning a winner, this session matches structure to job: vintage discipline, alignment, and patience where drawdown excels; access, compounding, and flexibility where evergreen wins; and the design challenges evergreen managers are actively solving, from cash management to valuation cadence. It closes on the structure choice now live in Europe: managers running an ELTIF and a Part II UCI version of the same strategy side by side, with a year of real data on how each is landing. The likely answer is a portfolio of structures — and knowing which vehicle earns which allocation is the skill this session sharpens.
New to Alts?  Private funds come in two basic shapes: "drawdown" funds that call your money over several years and lock it up, and "evergreen" funds you can enter and partially exit on an ongoing basis. This session explains what each does best.

Public Meets Private: How the Blended Portfolio Actually Gets Built
Two walls are coming down at once. Hybrid funds and model portfolios are blending public and private assets by design — and international vehicles are increasingly holding institutional and wealth capital side by side, with some European products now running half or more institutional, built on structuring flexibility that US registered products largely can't match. This session gets practical about both: what a well-built blend delivers that neither side delivers alone — say, meaningful income with monthly rather than quarterly liquidity — which jobs stay with public markets and which belong to private, and how manufacturers and distributors evolve a shelf built around style boxes so products that genuinely serve clients actually reach them.
New to Alts?  Some newer funds mix stocks and bonds you can trade daily with private investments you can't. This session looks at how those blended products are built and how they reach investors.
2:35 - 3:20 PM
Gatekeepers: The Wealth Channel's New Power Position
Every manager in the room wants shelf space; the people on this stage decide who gets it. Gatekeepers from global private banks, regional platforms, and multi-family offices across the US, Europe, the Middle East, and Asia walk through approval considerations — anonymized structures and assets that cleared diligence and products that didn't, and the specific reasons why: fee structures that fail committees, liquidity terms that don't survive legal review, track records that don't translate across borders. As the wealth channel expands into partner, gatekeeper, and manufacturer at once, what does great partnership actually look like?
New to Alts?  Before a fund reaches a financial advisor's clients, it has to be approved by "gatekeepers" at banks and investment platforms. This session shows how those decisions actually get made.

Day One Closing Conversation — Beyond Alternatives: Building the Portfolio of 2036
The word "alternative" defines an entire category as second choice — the alternative to something presumptively better — and the industry has spent two decades arguing inside that frame. This closing conversation retires it. Principals from different firms rebuild the client portfolio from first principles: if the 60/40 is broken, what actually replaces it — not an "alts sleeve" bolted onto a traditional core, but a single design where public, private, liquid, and illiquid exposures each do a defined job? The conversation synthesizes where Day One landed and closes on the theme question: how should this industry define itself when "alternative" no longer describes what it does? Short, direct, and designed to send the room into the Power Social arguing.
New to Alts?  The industry is rethinking the word "alternative" itself. This conversation asks what a modern portfolio should look like when private investments are a normal part of it.

The Briefing Room — The American Exchange: US Tax-Advantaged Real Estate for Global Investors
The US tax-advantaged exchange structures that let investors roll real estate gains — and what happens when non-US investors want the American real estate play. How the structures actually work, where the line sits for foreign capital, and what sponsors are building to open the door. Twenty minutes, one expert bench, direct questions welcome.
New to Alts?  US law lets real estate investors sell a property and roll the gains into a new one without an immediate tax bill. This briefing explains how those exchange structures work — and how investors outside the US can take part in American real estate through them.

The 10% That Does the Work: Hedge Funds in the Post-60/40 Portfolio
The industry's original alternative has gone missing from every major agenda — until now. This session opens with a specific thesis: bonds no longer reliably provide the protection that justified the 60/40, and clients are beginning to substitute part of the fixed-income sleeve with hedge strategies — a roughly ten percent complement that does defined portfolio work, not a return to the allocations of the past. Panelists stress-test it: which strategies actually deliver the diversification the pitch promises, which wrappers make them accessible to wealth, where access to quality managers is the binding constraint, and whether the channel that spent fifteen years walking away is genuinely walking back.
New to Alts?  Hedge funds are professionally managed strategies designed to make or protect money in both rising and falling markets. This session explains the role they can play alongside — or instead of part of — a bond allocation.
9:45 - 10:30 AM
Mapping the White Space on the Global Frontier
The last decade's story was an asset class going mainstream; the next decade's is where the investable universe expands. This session maps the frontier through a global lens, with the opportunity set looking different in Europe, Asia, the Middle East, and Australia than in the US: natural capital (timberland, farmland), royalties and revenue-share structures, asset-based finance, sports and media rights, and the energy and digital infrastructure being repriced by AI-driven power demand. For each, panelists apply the same three tests — is the return stream real, is the structure fair, and can the wealth channel actually access it — so the audience leaves with a genuine map rather than a list of exotica. One seat is reserved for the discipline voice: which frontiers merit a place now, and how much complexity is worth adding at all?
New to Alts?  Beyond the familiar categories — private equity, credit, real estate — investors are exploring newer areas like farmland, royalties, and sports. This session maps what's emerging around the world and how to judge it.

The Deal Room: Co-Invest and Secondaries in Live Action
Instead of another survey of the secondaries market, this session runs a deal. A realistic cross-border scenario — a GP-led continuation vehicle with a co-invest sleeve and investors in three jurisdictions, priced and papered — is put to a bench of practitioners: a secondaries buyer, a GP, an LP allocator, and a fund lawyer, each reacting in role. Where does pricing land, who takes the conflicts risk, what does the LP advisory committee push back on, and where would each expert walk away? Attendees leave understanding not what secondaries are, but how the deal actually gets done — and where the pressure points sit.
New to Alts?  "Secondaries" are the market where existing fund stakes change hands; "co-investing" means investing directly in a deal alongside a fund. This session walks through a realistic transaction step by step.
11:45 AM - 12:30 PM
Behind Closed Doors: What the World's Allocators Really Think
The conference closes with the conversation nobody has on the record. Under the Chatham House Rule, wealth platform heads, private bank selectors, and family office CIOs from across regions speak plainly about the state of the market: which product structures are genuinely working for clients and which are shelf-ware, where managers systematically misjudge buyers outside their home market, and the fee, liquidity, and reporting terms on which the next wave of allocations will really be won. Candor is the format; the room's discretion is the price of admission.
New to Alts?  A closed-door discussion where the people who choose funds for wealth platforms speak candidly — under rules that keep every comment anonymous.
