The North American Securities Administrators Association (NASAA) has appointed the Institute for Portfolio Alternatives (IPA) to join its newly formed Direct Participation Programs (DPP) Advisory Committee.

NASAA established the Advisory Committee to provide insight and recommendations on issues and emerging trends impacting direct participation programs, including non-traded real estate investment trusts, business development companies, and other DPPs. The Committee will advise NASAA on policy statements related to DPPs.

NASAA selected Jeff Evans, IPA’s Director of Government Affairs and Policy, to serve as IPA’s representative on the Committee. He joins Gabriela Aguero, Vice President of Corporate Financing at FINRA, and a group of industry leaders selected to serve on the Committee, including IPA members Kevin Gannon, Chairman & CEO of Stanger Investment Banking, Mark Quinn, Director of Regulatory Affairs at Cetera Financial Group, Vadim Avdeychik, Partner at Debevoise & Plimpton, and Laura Sirianni, Partner at DLA Piper.

“Regulatory engagement and open dialogue are essential to the continued evolution of the DPP marketplace,” said Anya Coverman, IPA President and CEO. “We were pleased to welcome NASAA leadership to speak with our Board at IPASummit in April, and we are encouraged by NASAA’s formation of an advisory committee to provide input on future DPP projects. IPA has long supported this type of constructive engagement, and we look forward to contributing to the committee’s work.”

IPA remains committed to supporting regulatory engagement and industry collaboration that help expand access and advance the future of alternative investments.
